HipHop For Haiti Mixtape

Rhymesayers posted this on Twitter earlier this morning. I fucking hate twitter and can never really tell what the fuck is going on so I just click links till I see something cool. But anyway, this mixtape is free so I don't really know how it's helping Haiti but check it out anyway. You will hear from Freeway & Jake One, Skyzoo, Method Man, Ghostface, Raekwon, Fashawn, and Jay-Z on this album.
Here is the track listings:

Here is the Download Link
Also, you can actually donate to Haiti by visiting the American Red Cross website or the Partners for Health Website.
RedLight Boogie - "Heat Rock" feat. Sean Price (prod Killing Skills)
Filthy beat and I like the part after the break. Also, I posted another song that got released off Jake One's "Stimulus Package" It wasn't as good as "You Know What I Mean" or "She Makes Me Feel Alright" so I didn't think it was worth it's own post. I threw it in with "She Makes Me Feel Alright". Anyway, check out this video...

Just thought this was funny...

“I heard pretty much most of the Kanye album,” he said. “I didn’t like it. I was just like ‘get the fuck out of here. I honestly thought it was an act of cowardice,” continued Phonte. “I think if you’re gonna make the creative leap to sing, then really sing. Let your voice come out, and let people hear all the eccentricities and all the little idiosyncrasies in your voice. That’s what makes you uniquely you…Imagine if Aretha Franklin used Auto-Tune on ‘Respect.’”
Phonte added that he thought Kanye was “biting T-Pain,” and concluded by saying that 808s and Heartbreak was a “case of the reach extending the grasp.”

New Apple IPad
Uhhh... What's more unnecessary than a huge iPod touch. But I have to have one. Here is my beef with it.
First, It doesn't say the RAM on the Apple specs page.
Second, No USB ports? (Get ready to spend a penny on adapters)
Third, Still no multitasking
Fourth, No Flash Support
Fifth, Apple really likes the idea of making their ipod touch/iphone/ipad Operating Systems very limited. Although you can get around this by Jailbreaking, it is still completely locked up and you must purcahse apps from the app store to get them.
Conclusion: I will still buy an iPad. The price is just too reasonable and it's just too ballin.

Sene & Von Pea – “Cantstandya”

This is a song from the "Stay Flawless" compilation tape from flawlesshustler. This disk will also have some madlib, jake one, and prince po so definitely check it out when it drops. You might have heard Sene on his album "A Day Late and a Dollar Short" (produced by Blu). Song is sweet, beat is sweet, chorus is decent. Right Click + "Save As" to download. Click to listen...

Objectiv One MPC Video & More Mashups
I saw this and thought it was a pretty impressive MPC video. If that's what your into.
Also, this album is pre-"Rad Jams, Bro" and is worth checking out. It has a Nas - If I Ruled the World mashup, a Biggie - Juicy mashup, and an "I Love College" mashup that actually does the song a little justice. If you want to download this Album click HERE!

Fashawn - Stuff Besides "Boy Meets World"

This dude has been really impressing me lately. I first heard about Fashawn last October when his first full length album "Boy Meets World" dropped. Since then this shit hasn't stopped bumpin in my house. Anyway, if you haven't copped this album your sleepin. Can't believe the dudes only twenty. After hearing that album I checked out some of his other stuff and it's equally filthy and even more free.

The Higher Learning Mixtape is well worth the download.

The Antidote Mixtape was released not too long before Boy Meets World and entirely produced by Alchemist. You can download this mixtape HERE.
Mos Def - "History" Video
It's been over 10 years since Mos Def and Talib Kweli dropped their collaborative Black Star album. Accurately titled, this video is about the history of Black Star. Mos Def and Talib Kweli over a Dilla beat.
Nas & Diamian Marley - Track Leak

The Nas & Damian Marley collaborative album entitled "Distant Relatives" leaked a couple tracks. A snippet of "As We Enter" was released back in June but now we have 2 full length tracks. Anyway, this album has been promised for a while but is currently set to drop April 20th.

Download "Strong Will Continue"
Todd Sykes & Evergreen One - 90's Shit
Found this video on a friends blog. Posting it 1/2 because I like the song, 1/4 because it's from Tacoma, and 1/4 because I like the sample during the credits.

Jake One - The Stimulus Package
Jake One & Freeway are planning to release "The Stimulus Package" in mid-february. Luckily, Rhymesayers Entertainment was nice enough to give us a sample. The song is called "Know What I Mean." and you can download it for FREE here! If you haven't already done so, pick up Jake One's album "White Van Music."
This is the video for this song:
Objectiv One - Rad Jams, Bro
When I first started hearing mash-ups I thought they were super lame because they were mainly done on a computer and started out being overdone trance mash-ups (or at least those are the first ones I heard). The first song I heard off Objectiv One's mash-up tape "Rad jams, Bro" was a Rick Ross and Spoon mash-up. Now I don't have anything against Spoon but who the fuck wants to listen to a Rick Ross x Spoon mash-up. It wasn't very good. Anyway, I stumbled across a blog post where they posted the whole album and people were actually commenting on how much they liked it so I gave it a second look. Turns out the album actually had a few awesome mash-ups on it. best part is, you can download it for free here! I would recommend the Evidence x Hubert Laws mash-up, the Montell Jordan x Hubert Laws mash-up and the Drake x Washed Out mash-up (Yes, I secretly like some of Drakes stuff). Anyway, this is pretty new so it's not on youtube but if you click the link you can sample it before you download.

Ryan Lewis & Macklemore
I remember seeing Macklemore with Xperience in Olympia, Washington at Evergreen Community College a couple years back. XP and Macklemore make up the group Step Cousins. They were opening up for Blue Scholars. I was feeling it but I hadn't really heard much about Macklemore at the time. I was a junior or senior in high school and just getting into hip-hop. I just knew about XP because I had seen him around Olympia since we both lived there at the time. The name Macklemore caught my attention again a couple years later just this last summer at the Bumbershoot Music Festival in Seattle. Unfortunately, I missed his set which I'm going to blame on my friend Blake just for kicks. Anyway, after that someone posted a Macklemore video on Facebook so I thought I would check it out. The song "The Town", off Macklemore's "The Unplanned Mixtape" was fresh but this video (directed by Zia Mohajerjasbi and produced by Ryan Lewis) really caught my eye also. If you like that video, check out the video for Jake One - Home also. Ryan Lewis is a photographer/producer/designer from Seattle. After looking through his website (worthwhile) I found he does a lot of really good shit. I was kind of surprised to see that he did a lot of the photography for one of my favorite current MC's Blu also. Seems like this dude is pretty all around good at what he does. Anyway, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released "The Vs. EP" (Free download link #1!) not too long ago that is definitely worth a spin. I will post a few things below.

This is off the Macklemore and Lewis "VS. EP":
This is a Ryan Lewis mash-up with Franz Ferdinand and Tupac:
This is Macklemore's "The Town" Video I talked about above:
This is a video Ryan Lewis and Macklemore put together:
That's just a few things. Do some clickin' around.

First Post...
In the new blog. And damn it feels good. Until now I have been maintaining my own website and I am pretty sick of writing HTML tags every time I want to post something so I gave into the man and got a blog. I know, a total sell out right! Anyway, I won't really be talking about myself much in my blog because I don't really think anyone cares. I will take this time, however, to write a few things about myself since this is my first post.
About me: I am a Sophomore and Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. My name is Adam. I am a computer science major. I skateboard. I listen to hip-hop, instrumentals, jazz, reggae. and some alternative but have a history of listening to anything from hardcore/punk to slow jams. Basically whatever sounds good to my ears.
Why I made this blog: Like I said, I get tired of maintaining my site (which I will post a link to at the bottom of this post. It contains old stuff but you can score a couple free albums. Just don't tell anyone.) I also made this blog because I like to spread the word when I hear something I like or see a video I like but know that all my facebook friends (Yes I have Facebook. And yes, I will post a link at the bottom.) don't necessarily care about the stuff I care about.
What you can expect from this blog: You can expect new music (hip-hop for the most part), probably some skateboarding if I see something particularly crazy, maybe some album reviews, and I will be making a mixtape every couple months that I will post assuming I have time. Oh, I also might post some tech stuff that I don't really expect anyone to read. Just some inner nerd coming out.
Anyway here is my old site. Not really much to it.
And here is my Facebook. Don't add me just to get another friend.
Also my email address is theunionstreet@gmail.com.
You can email me if you want a torrent link to any album I mention or review. I don't really promote stealing music but I would be lying if I said I didn't do it everyday. For the most part I will only post links to free albums. Just let me know if you have any requests.
